Best Advice For Seasoned Travellers and For Those New To Travelling
April 20, 2012
Most people will travel a long distance, at least a few times in their life. You can gain a lot by learning about travel, even if you are not well travelled or have been travelling for years. The following article contains advice regarding travel that may come in handy one day.
Sign up for email newsletters offered by most major airlines. You will be the first to hear about discounts, special deals and last-minute offers through these e-newsletters. These subscriptions are worth it, even if it means your inbox gets a little fuller.
Educate your children about airport security. Before you even get to the airport, try to give them a good mental picture of what they will go through. Keep your child close when you go through security. Help to ease their fears by sending a familiar adult through first, showing them how it works.
Many airports have added these to enhance waiting areas and provide a diversion and entertainment for young children while waiting for flights. This can keep all the members of your party in good spirits so that it is easier to deal with the delay.
Make sure you are careful about any food allergies you may have whenever you visit a foreign land. You need to know the language’s food related words, particularly if you have bad reactions to foods. You can tell the workers of your condition and inform the doctors if something does happen.
Make sure your passport hasn’t expired. Different countries have different passport regulations. Some countries won’t allow you to come to their country if your passport is about to expire. As long as the passport is not set to expire within the next six months, you should be fine for most countries; however, certain countries require eight months, or even up to one year.
Be vigilant when dealing with local police or other officials, in case they’re not who they claim to be, but instead are imposters. Do not give over your personal information, as you could end up with no identification fast. If they state you must go to an office, offer to walk the distance with them. Do not get rides with strangers.
If your plans include renting an automobile with young ones in tow, always bring along their car seats. Use your own car seats when you rent a vehicle, you won’t know if you the rental company will have them and if so, what kind of quality they’ll be.
The use of travel agencies has declined for a reason; everyone books trips online because it is so convenient. Travel websites can assist you in the planning of your trip’s itinerary. You can book hotels, rental cars and flights easily from your computer! You can research your destination and read reviews of potential lodgings. Don’t forget to look for discounts when booking travel at the last minute.
Overall, traveling is an activity most do at least once. So by becoming familiar with information about traveling, you can be ready to handle any travel that you undertake. This article will help you have a stress free travel experience.
Bergamo – High and Low
October 24, 2011
Bergamo city of two parts, the High Town has a university, a castle, cable car and cobbled streets. To give the high town its proper name, Citta Alta, is a medieval city. The surrounding walls enclose Piazza Vecchia, the Contarini fountain, the Palazzo della Regione and a bell tower which still rings out in the evening as it once did long ago to let people know the doors of the city were closing. There is the Angelo Mai library well worth a visit. You might like to climb the City Tower for the wonderful views. There many sights worth seeing in Citta Alta such as the Botanic Gardens, the Colleoni Chapel, the Museum of Natural Sciences, The Cathedral and the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica where musician Donizetti was laid to rest. The trip in the Cable Car to the high town was in itself most enjoyable.
The lower city has many places of interest too including the Academia Carrara art gallery. Paintings by Botticelli, Raffaello, Bellini and Donatello can be seen here. In the Bergamo lower city can be found the centre for shopping in the leading brand shops, fine wines and of course local produce. Bergamo is not a really big city, as cities go, therefore you will find everything you want reasonably close at hand.
When dining out you must try the La polenta della Bergamasca and the La torta del Donizetti for dessert they could be said to be a good enough reason to visit Bergamo!
